Chris Clarke – Director

Since November 2021 I have successfully started and grown from inception to a company that has many happy returning clients, from business asset finance, commercial loans and personal finance for cars, motorbikes, caravans and motorhomes.

I have always, for as long as I can remember, had an interest in cars. This is probably because as a family we didn’t have one growing up. I was determined when I became 17 to pass my driving test and I did this after 11 lessons, then the obsession with cars started. My first car being a Mk1 Escort!
The same year I started at a local college to study motor vehicle engineering. During this time, I preferred being in the showroom rather than the workshop. This was the catalyst that drove me to find a job in sales.

For 19 years I worked at a large car supermarket, for 15 of those I worked as a business manager running a small team selling 650-700 cars a year on average. My role was to run and manage a team and meet and exceed targets set by management, for car sales as well as finance and insurance that was on offer, whilst being always compliant with the FCA. My world changed on 23rd March 2020 as lots did when we as a country went into lockdown. It became apparent I needed a better work life balance. When the option of redundancy came up, I took the opportunity to change. I promised my wife and myself a better work life balance. I then went onto work for 2 dealer groups but didn’t find the right balance. So, I ultimately took the plunge and became a Finance broker and left working in the motor trade in November 2021 to follow this path.

My aim and achievements over the last 3 years are building long term relationships with both private customers and businesses. To be your first port of call when you look to fund your next asset or loan. To provide excellent customer service with honesty and transparency with the added personal touch. Banks will be restricted to certain business hours, whereas I will go above and beyond as not everything needs to be as rigid as working 9-5. Should you need our services out of business hours then let’s have a conversation to see how we can help.

As a self-professed petrol head, I have a love of all things with wheels & engines. Add to that my slightly “Rainman” ability to work with figures and it seemed an obvious choice to work in Asset Finance.

It all started a very long time ago when as a small boy my dad was a lorry driver and a petrol head. He loved fast cars and driving, so naturally that became my “thing”. From travelling the length & breadth of the UK in his lorry to helping him fit bigger & better engines into which ever car he had at the time (well I thought I was helping, although now having children myself, I can see that I was possibly more of a hindrance, than help).

As soon as I became old enough, I went for a Saturday job at the local Ford dealership and quickly proved myself a sensible and eager apprentice to the salesmen. By the time I left school, they were as keen to take me on, as I was to join.

12 years later and having worked with many marques (Ford, Toyota, Peugeot, Rover), the dealership I worked for took the decision to employ a business manager whose job was purely looking after the financing of all cars sold. I applied and got it!! My dream job (I thought) working with cars and playing with numbers.

However, in 1998, I was approached by Volvo Trucks to be an Area Sales Manager. This took things to a whole new level and I suddenly realised that I enjoyed dealing with businesses and getting involved in their growth.

After joining Mercedes Benz Commercials, I spent 14 years as Sales Manager running a small team of salespeople and dealing with the directors of the business. Everything was going great, but I felt there was something more that I was missing.

I proceeded to speak with and eventually join a large merchant bank based in London. Again, I learnt so much more than I thought possible about reading accounts, different funding options in the asset world etc.

In 2022 I decided to take the leap and start an Asset Finance Brokerage myself. My family all supported me and I left the corporate world and the safety net of employment behind.

Things have gone well but in order to grow further and after a lot of conversations with Chris, we decided to join forces… and here we are!!
